Assign Meaning to Bit Patterns?

example Query: mercedes AND car

• obvious meaning: someone looks for a good car

• alternative 1: ... looks for a spanish lady driving a vehicle

• alternative 2: the best mercedes car might be listed as "mercedes automobil"

• ... etc.

Problem: mercedes -> polysem/name
                 homonyms to car: auto, automobil, vehicle ...

what can we do aginst that:

• let the user assign more meaning -> interactive interface, NLP

• assign meaning during indexing -> www.gerhard.de

  assigment to UDK about 80% correctly
